 | Another version of using a modified "standard" pattern is this Log Cabin pattern, which instead of having a solid red ("hearth") square at the center shows an eagle. Eagles, wolves and buffalo are common design elements of Indian quilting. |
| Rather than using fabric by the yard, sometimes other things are used: there are many bandannas available, for example, with Indian motifs. As these particular bandannas have a Southwestern/Mexican flavor, I call this piece Las Bandanas. | |
 | Another motif is to use embrodered squares to make a quilt. Indian embroidery motifs are not common in preprinted embroidery, and so often the quilter finds herself drawing and embroidering designs of her own making for her quilts. |
